As-Salam Alaikum Parents/Guardians,
Welcome, welcome, welcome! I look forward this school year as your child’s 1st grade teacher! It is a year of many "firsts" and the growth your child will make is amazing. Your child will be exposed to many new things and master new skills in reading, writing and math. I strive to create a respectful and nurturing classroom environment. I encourage positive social interaction and will help your child to become more independent throughout the year. We will have a lot of fun while we learn.
I also look forward to developing and relationship with you and working together to help your child be successful. I would like to get to know your child better. Please write me a letter telling me about your child along with any concerns you may have. You can send it to me through email or send it in with your child the first week of school.
I want to share with you a few notes:
- I am asking that your child reads for at least 10 minutes every night. Daily reading is the best way to help your child become a stronger reader. I also encourage you to model reading. Please read the information about reading strategies that will help your child.
- Your child may bring a healthy, peanut-free snack with a small water bottle that can be reused daily. I encourage fresh veggies, fruit, whole grain snacks, and trying to keep waste at a minimum. Celebrating your child’s birthday is optional to bring in a special snack for the class. Please let me know if snacks will be shared with the class.
Here is to a terrific 1st Grade Year!
Thank you and please feel free to contact me with any concerns,
